Considerable impacts of litter inputs on soil nematode community composition in a young Acacia crassicapa plantation

چکیده

Aboveground litter inputs and root exudates provide basal resources for soil communities, however, their relative contributions to food web are still not well understood. Here, we conducted a field manipulative experiment differentiate the effects of living on nematode community composition surface subsoils in young Acacia crassicapa plantation southern China. Our results showed that both addition presence significantly enhanced abundance by 17.3% 35.3%, respectively. Litter altered trophic group composition, decreased fungivore bacterivore ratio, maturity index structure index, which led bacterial-based energy channel more complex structure. However, had limited impact ecological indices. Despite nematodes assembly, depth did affect or index. findings highlight importance shaping regulating channel.

Differential effects of conifer and broadleaf litter inputs on soil organic carbon chemical composition through altered soil microbial community composition

A strategic selection of tree species will shift the type and quality of litter input, and subsequently magnitude and composition of the soil organic carbon (SOC) through soil microbial community. We conducted a manipulative experiment in randomized block design with leaf litter inputs of four native subtropical tree species in a Pinus massoniana plantation in southern China and found that the ...

Linking tree biodiversity to belowground process in a young tropical plantation: Impacts on soil CO2 flux

This study examined the effect of tree species identity and diversity on soil respiration in a 3-year-old tropical tree biodiversity plantation in Central Panamá. We hypothesized that tree pairs in mixed-species plots would have higher soil respiration rates than those in monoculture plots as a result of increased primary productivity and complementarity leading to greater root and microbial bi...

Nitrogen Addition Regulates Soil Nematode Community Composition through Ammonium Suppression

Nitrogen (N) enrichment resulting from anthropogenic activities has greatly changed the composition and functioning of soil communities. Nematodes are one of the most abundant and diverse groups of soil organisms, and they occupy key trophic positions in the soil detritus food web. Nematodes have therefore been proposed as useful indicators for shifts in soil ecosystem functioning under N enric...

Soil microbe active community composition and capability of responding to litter addition after 12 years of no inputs.

One explanation given for the high microbial diversity found in soils is that they contain a large inactive biomass that is able to persist in soils for long periods of time. This persistent microbial fraction may help to buffer the functionality of the soil community during times of low nutrients by providing a reservoir of specialized functions that can be reactivated when conditions improve....

Changes in litter, decomposition, nitrogen mineralization and microclimate in Acacia mangium and Acacia auriculiformis plantation in Mount Makiling, Philippines

The objectives of this study were to examine litter, decomposition, net mineralization and microclimate by two leguminous species planted for the restoration of degraded area. The total annual litter fall in A. mangium site was 11.44±0.59 (mean ± standard error) t ha -1 yr -1 and A. auriculiformis site was 8.72±0.57 t ha -1 yr -1 . Decomposition constant (k) of A. mangium and A. auriculiformis ...
